KAZAN – Kazan State Power Engineering University (KSPEU) became the sixth higher education institution that signed a cooperation agreement with the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate. The signing event saw the participation of Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Vladimir Leonov and KSPEU Rector Yury Petrushenko. The event also featured Dilyara Vagapova, lead singer of the Murakami band from Kazan, who performed the 2013 Summer Universiade anthem.
In his welcome speech Yury Petrushenko addressed the students: “I appeal to you to be honorable in obligations of the agreement and prove that students and teachers of our university work as one team in sports, leisure and education!”
For his part, Vladimir Leonov indicated that the University had always enjoyed a unique spirit. “Your volunteering assistance in preparation of the 2013 Universiade is essential to us. I urge you to start a fruitful teamwork, especially as far as volunteering movement is concerned”, he said.
The response and enthusiasm radiating from the students suggested that they were aware of the importance attached to the agreement that stipulates cooperation in the 2013 SU volunteering program implementation. It implies involvement of the University’s students and personnel in volunteering at events relating to preparation and delivery of the 2013 Summer Universiade.
After the signing event the guests had a tour around the University. Vladimir Leonov and Yury Petrushenko visited the training session of KSPEU women’s rugby team. Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate met with the University’s athletes: European Go champion Artem Dugin and European fencing champion Ramil Vafin.
It stands to note that the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate has already signed cooperation agreements with Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering, Kazan State Medical University, Tupolev Kazan State Technical University, Kazan State Technological University and Institute of Economics, Management and Law.
