2011 SU Update: Shenzhen Inspection Visits Continued

On October 21st, 2009, FISU EC member and CTI Chair Mr. Stavros Douvis and FISU Sports Manager Michal Buchel had a meeting with the OC sports department and venue department and the third group of CT Chairs who arrived in Shenzhen.

CT Chairs of Basketball, Mr. Öhrman and Mr. Kiritsis inspected the proposed competition (5) and training (6)venues. CT Chair for Tennis, Mr. Kawatei came to inspect the venue with 51 courts located in the Mission Hills Resort.

 

A number of the optional sports CT Chairs travelled to Shenzhen as well, i.e. CT Chair for Archery, Mr. Holgado; CT Chair for Weightlifting, Mrs. Nemeth-Mora; CT Chair for Badminton, Mr. Johansson and CT Chair for Sailing, Mr. Galliot.

On the first day of their visit, all CT Chairs met with the OC representatives for long working sessions when one by one expressed what they expect from the OC regarding the preparation of the Games. The OC delegates from their side gave them an overview of their preparatory work and delivered the CT’s the program and events of the competition for approval. Some of the programs were approved and some were postponed or advanced in the tentative competition schedules.

Director of the Summer Universiade Marc Vandenplas had a meeting with the different functional area departments (media, catering).
