BAR – Yesterday, 19 June, the competition finally started for the student-athletes at the 9th World University Karate Championship in Bar, Montenegro. Competition took place in the men’s +84kg category, and the women’s +68kg category, kumite and kata also.
At this WUC, some 300 athletes from 38 countries are accredited. There was a great atmosphere in the venue at the Opening Ceremony yesterday. The Vice-Mayor of Bar officially opened the Championship while FISU EC member Malumbete Ralethe welcomed all the competitors to 9th WUC Karate in name of FISU.
A cultural programme followed with traditional dancing and music. After the opening ceremony, it was time for competition again with the finals in kumite and kata.
