European Universities Golf Championship to be held in SLO

LJUBLJANA – On June 26 and 27, EUSA technical delegate for Golf Mr Karl Berger visited the Organising Committee of the 2nd European Universities Golf Championship, which will be organised in Otočec, Slovenia between September 6 and 10, 2011.

On Sunday, a meeting was held in Ljubljana with the Organising Committee members Mr Zvjezdan Mikic, Mrs Mojca Rupert and Mr Andrej Pisl. They discussed the general topics regarding the organisation of the event. After the meeting, the hosts gave a short sightseeing tour of the Slovenian capital.

The inspection visit continued on Monday, when Mr Berger also met with Mr Otmar Kugovnik, the President of the Slovenian University Sports Association, who is also organising the event, and local partners Mr Albin Kregar, Club manager, Mr Stanko Nezic, R&A Referee; Mr Bernard Munic, pro player. Together, they discussed technical aspects of the championship and inspected the golf course in Otocec.

The visit showed successful preparations for the event and the championship will be held at a high quality course, which was named best golf course in Slovenia twice in a row.

The championship will feature a men’s and women’s tournament and is still open for registration until the end of July 2011.
