ANAPOLIS – An easy game and a very lively crowd marked the victory of Brazil by 8-2 against Kazakhstan, in the International Gym Newton de Faria, in Anápolis. The result left the Brazilian men’s team in the top of Group A.
With a score of 19-0, the Brazilian women’s team did a real show on Wednesday (6) evening. Lediane Tampa was the top scorer of the game with four goals, and Valéria came close behind, with three goals!
The presence of the ambassador of Czech Republic in Brazil, Jiří Havlík, in Goiânia Arena Gym, brought some luck for the Czech men’s team. Even under strong pressure of the team from Argentina, the Czech team managed to win by 3-1.
The Russian men’s team victory over China by 16-0 ensured the presence of the team among the eight ranked selections, which will stay playing for the championship title.
The Portuguese men’s team beat the Thai by a tight score of 2-1. During the two halfs of the match, the game between the two teams was balanced but the Thai couldn’t tie because Portugal walled-off every attack of its opponent.
In a game with many scoring chances, the women’s teams of Portugal and Mexico showed their strength and determination. After two wins in the last matches, the Mexicans went ahead with a goal, by developing a game with a closed defense. On the other hand, the Portuguese were trying for a second victory after recovering from the defeat against Russia, attacking the opponent using speed as a strategy resulting in a draw of 2-2.
