2011 WU Update – Day 2 – Freestyle Skiing

Winter Games 28 January 2011

ERZURUM  January 28th As you know, Freestyle Skiing is part of the 2011 Winter Universiade Program as an optional discipline for the second time in FISU history. Indeed, two years ago, during the 2009 Winter Universiade in Harbin, China, we had already the Ski Cross and the Freestyle Ski Jumping events. Today, for the first time ever we had the Moguls event competed at the Palandöken ski resort.

7 ladies and 13 men were registered for this spectacular competition. The level was middle and almost the same as a FIS Continental Cup.

In the Women’s event, Darya Rybalova, from Kazakhstan was the strongest without any doubt. Big jumps, excellent skiing abilities, beautiful style, she secured the Gold Medal very easy.

Irina Pisarevskaya and Alena Zueva signed a superb double for Russia with respectively the Silver and the Bronze medal.

In the men’s event, Russian skier Alexander Kerner made a fantastic run although he was ranked 10th after the qualifications. He won the Gold with a 23.05 score. His teammate Evgeny Mikhaylov finished second and Denis Moiseyev also from Kazakhstan gained the Bronze Medal.

It’s a fantastic result for the Team Russia which gained four medals during this superb event.
