Countdown to Winter Universiade 2019 begins with FISU Forum

The countdown has begun for the sporting world to get a rare glimpse into the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, host of the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade. Next month, the FISU Forum will be held here from 6-10 August, showcasing to the world what they can expect come March 2019 from the event host.

 

The FISU Forum is a unique event that brings together all the stakeholders of university sport – students, sports managers, sports federations, event organisers and renowned academic speakers – to exchange ideas and chart the future course of the sports environment in which they operate.

A world-class line-up of presenters are in place for the 14th edition of the FISU Forum, which will take place in the Winter University 2019 host city of KrasnoyarskIn its 14th edition, the theme of this FISU Forum is ‘Student Sport – Springboard for Innovative Leadership’, which is closely aligned with FISU’s motto of ‘Today’s Stars, Tomorrow’s Leaders’. FISU prides itself in being a fertile testing ground for new possibilities and innovative solutions in sport, leadership and good governance. The central idea at this edition of the Forum is to explore how young leaders can develop themselves through university sports.

  

The Krasnoyarsk edition promises to be really exciting, for more reasons than one. In addition to the plenary sessions, workshops and group discussions, a whole host of cultural activities will take place through the five days. This includes visits and excursions for the delegates to preview the venues of the Winter Universiade and also to soak in the rich culture of Krasnoyarsk.

It is also a university city, and is a hotspot for sports and education, with more than 100,000 university students and many sports academies that train athletes for national and international competition. The residences of the Siberian Federal University are being developed as an Athletes’ Village for the Winter Universiade 2019, and delegates of the FISU Forum will have the rare opportunity to live in the future Athletes’ Village.

  

All in all, Krasnoyarsk is set to be a memorable host of the 14th edition of the FISU Forum, setting the tone for Winter Universiade 2019.
