2009 SU Update: Presentation of Universiade Video

Summer Games 20 April 2009

In the Belgrade Fair press center, company “Universiade Belgrade 2009” presented the first version of the official video of this year’s biggest sports event.

The Universiade song and video will be presented to the public during Belgrade Days and at the NLB League Final Four matches.

‘This is the first of the three videos that will be presented during the 90-day campaign and later, during the Universiade. During the campaign we will also show short movies about the shooting of videos. We are very pleased with the result, even though we encountered numerous problems during shooting because of deadlines and bad weather’, said Nikola Mikavica, UB2009 marketing CEO.

The video was made in cooperation with company ‘Telekom’, the Universiade chief sponsor, and with the help of the Ministry of Education.

‘TV RTS, our strategic media partner, will broadcast the video and then the other TV stations we are still negotiating with. It took the Universiade marketing team two months to make the video. They worked in close cooperation with the marketing team of ‘Telekom Serbia’, whose experience, contacts and ideas were invaluable’, said Mikavica. ‘I would like to thank volunteers, who, as ever, helped us. More than 1,500 volunteers took part in shooting the video. Once again, our volunteers showed exceptional professionalism and cooperation.’

The Universiade video will present less popular sports, like taekwondo, fencing, table tennis etc.

‘Members of Serbian national team, who will compete in the Universiade, appeared in the video. Our idea was to present the University of Belgrade, whose role was, until now, neglected. The video was shot in the Faculty of Law, in the Faculty of Philology, in the University Library and in Nikola Tesla Museum. The second video will present the towns where some of the competitions will take place. The third video will present venues where athletes will compete between July 1st and July 12th’, concluded Nikola Mikavica.

Aleksandar Simic is the author of the text and music and the director was Ivan Zivkovic from agency ‘Le Sport’. The official Universiade song is sung by Marija Mihajlovic, Ivana Ikon, Milena Vasic, Rastko Jankovic, Dragoljub Bajic and Srdjan Timarov.
