Brussels – Yesterday, May 27th, the city of Brussels was host to a meeting between all involved partners in the City Events Conference that will take place from November 17th to 19th, 2010.
Indeed, the FISU Secretary-General Eric Saintrond and Executive Assistant Paulo Ferreira met with representatives from GL Events Bertrand Favre and Emmanuel Piegay, as well as TSE Consulting Director Greg Curchod. Joined by the Department of Culture, Youth, Leisure and Sports Advisor to the City of Brussels Bernard Deneyer, the group visited the conference venue Square – Brussels Meeting Center located in the heart of the city, and later paid a visit to the city hall’s main ceremony room. Many logistical and technical issues where brought up with both locations managers envisioning the mid-November event.
The Conference main theme is “From Sport Event to Citywide Experience”, focusing on transforming a sporting event into an integral city event. It will cover 4 main areas – venues, people, funds and brand – looking to provide insight and prompt discussion on how cities can enhance an event they are hosting by integrating their city and citizens to make it a citywide experience.
A short visit to the Chateau de la Solitude, the FISU Headquarters was also included in the work program.
