FISU President visits Wroclaw University

WROCLAW “On invitation of Rector of Wroclaw University School of Physical Education and Sport Prof. Juliusz Migasiewicz,FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien visited Wroclaw.

The visit begun with an unexpected setback caused by a strike of the ground personnel at the airport which delayed the President’s flight on Thursday, 21 March. Therefore the FISU President went straight from the airport to the University where he gave a lecture about Stanislawa Walasiewicz known as well as Stella Walsh (1911-1980), a famous track and field athlete, Olympic Gold (1932 – Los Angeles) and Silver (Berlin – 1936) medallist, multiple European and USA champion, multiple world record holder. During a long and successful career Stanisława Walasiewicz represented Poland and the United States.

FISU President Gallien

On Friday 22 March, the FISU President met with the Rector of the University School of Physical Education and Sport. President Galien accepted the proposal of the University Senate to be awarded with title of doctor honoris causa. The date of the official ceremony will be announced when the formal procedure will be concluded.

During the meeting with Polish NUSF officials Marian Dymalski (FISU assesor, AZS steering committee member) and Adam Roczek (EUSA President, AZS Deputy Chair) ideas about mutual cooperation between FISU, the Continental Federations and National University Sports Federation have been exchanged.
