FISU present at WISE 2015

FISU 7 May 2015

LAUSANNE – The 2015 edition of the ‘Work in Sports Exhibition’, which aims, among others, to present the different sports professions and gather today’s and tomorrow’s leaders in the sports industry, took place on 6 and 7 May in Lausanne, Switzerland.

This platform brings together expert speakers in the field of sport, athletes and interested participants to the various professions in sports, having in common sharing the same values of sport.

On this occasion, FISU has established a promo booth presenting the activities of FISU in order to promote interaction with the master students and professionals in the sports industry and to draw attention to the importance of the University Sports Movement.

During these two days, FISU Secretary-General/CEO Eric Saintrond, Manager of the Summer Universiade Department Jing Zhao and Head of Knowledge Management Lilia Barieva participated in various activities offered by the organizers.

On 6 May, Jing Zhao, manager of the Summer Universiade department made a presentation of the activities of FISU and especially the Gwangju Summer Universiade in 2015. She also referred to career opportunities within events organized by FISU.
FISU SG/CEO Eric Saintrond took part in a roundtable discussion with Kit McConnell, Director of Sports of the IOC; Jean-Christophe Rolland, Olympic gold medalist and President of FISA; Sarah Lewis, FIS Secretary General and Vlad Marinescu, general manager of SportAccord.

 

During the roundtable, the following topics were discussed: the career and leadership skills in a sport organization, the leadership qualities needed to evolve in the world of international sport, the transition and the links between life of an athlete and that of the leader of a sports organisation and how sports events were managed before the arrival of new communication technologies.

Lilia Barieva, FISU Head of Knowledge Management hosted, in collaboration with representatives of the IOC and the FEI, a workshop dedicated to the importance of education in sport and the work done in sports organizations in order to facilitate this process. During this workshop, Lilia Barieva presented the FISU International Education Center FISU created on the occasion of the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan in 2013.
