KOVROV – Today the tripartite contract between FISU, the Russian Students Sport Union and Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade Directorate to host the next FISU Forum was signed in the Vladimir region of Russia in the framework of the international forum ‘Russia – Country of Sports’.

During a solemn ceremony FISU President Oleg Matytsin, acting President of the Russian Students Sport Union Sergey Seyranov and Director General of the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade Executive Directorate Maxim Urazov put their signatures on the contract which stipulates that the next FISU Forum is to be staged in Krasnoyarsk from 6 to 10 August, 2018.

As FISU President Oleg Matytsin said, “The next FISU Forum will become an important step in developing the FISU educational programme. We will work together with the Directorate in Krasnoyarsk to ensure that it has the most topical agenda, features worldwide-known names as guest speakers and attracts the highest attention from the university community and students.”

In his turn, head of the Krasnoyarsk Universiade Executive Directorate Maxim Urazov said: “Hosting FISU Forum is very important for us. Krasnoyarsk is a very dynamic students’ city. I’m sure that the Forum will bring many benefits for our city, for our universities. The Directorate will do its best to ensure that the event is organized at a high level, that all participants feel comfortable.”

The international sporting forum, held in the Russian city of Kovrov in Vladimir region, was also an opportunity for the Krasnoyarsk Universiade organisers to sign an agreement with Norilsk Nickel, the world’s largest producer of nickel and palladium and a major FISU partner. Norilsk Nickel, represented by its Vice-President Elena Bezdenezhnykh, pledged to finance the training of personnel and volunteers for the 2019 Winter Universiade.

The decision to host the next FISU Forum in Krasnoyarsk was taken by FISU Executive Committee meeting in Gwangju in June 2015. The Forum is considered as an important test for Krasnoyarsk before staging the Winter Universiade.
