FISU 23 March 2017

LAUSANNE – On 22 March, a press conference was called by FISU at the occasion of the opening of the iDong test machine offered by Taishan to FISU and installed at the CSS (Center for Sports and Health of the University and Polytechnic School of Lausanne).

The press conference was attended by the Vice-Rector of UNIL Benoit Frund, Director of Sports Service at UNIL-EPFL Pierre Pfefferle, Responsible for CSS Stephane Maeder and FISU Secretary General/CEO Eric Saintrond.

The representatives of UNIL and CSS expressed their honour of having this highly innovative technology at the premises of CSS.

This test machine is a multifunctional machine designed for a comprehensive physical performance measurement. Equipped with complicated tools and software, the machine allows to conduct a series of tests to measure weight and height, vital capacity, reaction time, grip strength, balance, systolic/diastolic pressure and other performance indicators. According to CSS specialists, it will be used not only to track individual athletes’ progress, but to assess the efficiency of different training techniques as well.

“Due to its partnership with Taishan, FISU has made available a test machine to CSS, that will be able to benefit from it for the years to come. It is also planned to develop partnerships between the European university centers and the Research Center of the Taishan Group which laboratories are recognized by the Chinese Government”, Mr. Saintrond commented.

The press conference was followed by a demonstration of the iDong machine and a presentation of different tests it can conduct.
