EUSA EC Meeting in Ljubljana

LJUBLJANA The 02-2010 Executive Committee Meeting of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia on September 24th and 25th, 2010.

The meeting was organized by the EUSA Office in cooperation with the Slovenian University Sports Association (SUSA) whose president prof. dr. Otmar Kugovnik welcomed the members to Ljubljana.

The meeting included a full agenda, and started by the greeting of the EUSA President Mr Alberto Gualtieri who welcomed the EUSA EC members and staff, as well as Mr Haris Pavletic, Medical Commission Chair, Ms Elefteria Kallikazarou, Student Commission Chair, Mr Zrinko Custonja, Auditor, Mr Michel Bonfils, EU liaison and Mr Stavros Douvis, FISU EC member as a guest.

EUSA Secretary-General Mr Pecovnik presented the general office report and the activities of EUSA in the period from the last meeting, EUSA Sports Manager Mr Roczek presented the Final EUC report and overall statistics for 2010 and EUSA Communications Manager Mr Pisl presented details on implementation of the new IT System. STC Chair Ms Kalliakazarou presented the report of the Student Commission and Mr Sanchez, EC member responsible for the EUSA Gender Commission reported on the current activities. Mr Eder, a.i. treasurer, presented the realization of the budget 2010 and the estimation by the end of the year. EUSA President Gualtieri reported on the cooperation with the continental and international federations. Other items were also discussed and among other the following decisions have been taken:

2010 Awards
– Enno Harms Fair Play Award for 2010 goes to the European University of Cyprus Handball Team (M);
– Best University Award 2010 goes to University of Coimbra (POR);
– Most Active NUSA Award 2010 goes to AZS Poland.

EUSA Events
– The dates and EUSA Delegates for EUC 2011 were approved;
– EC agreed on the proposed financial conditions and sports program for 2012 European Universities Games;
– EC agreed on the proposed bidding procedure, financial conditions and sports program for the 2013 European Universities Championships and the 2014 European Universities Games.

Commissions
EUSA EC nominated the technical Delegates and the Medical Commission for the next 2-year period.

Apart from the meetings, the EUSA EC members and other representatives also enjoyed an evening of national cuisine and sightseeing, organized by the Slovenian University Sports Association.

On Saturday afternoon, the new EUSA Offices were also officially opened, with a small ceremony for the EUSA Executive Committee members and invited guests.

The next EUSA EC meeting will be held in Novi Sad, Serbia from December 5th to 6th, 2010.
