FASU execs check out venues ahead of 9th African University Games

Members of the Federation of African University Sports accompanied by the organising committee of the 9th African University games visited prospective structures scheduled to host events in Makelle University Ethiopia, hosts of the Summer games.

 

FASU Secretary General Peninnah Kabenge and 2nd Vice President Prof. Nteere were on ground to inspect the University Sporting facilities and gauge their readiness to host the rest of Africa come June.

 

According to FASU secretary general Peninnah Kabenge “Mekelle University is ready for the 9th FASU games, Impressive sports facilities. There will be Professionally trained volunteers and I believe this is going to be more than a sporting event in the African capital”.

 

Meanwhile more than 100 volunteer students in collaboration with International Youth Federation (IYF) took part in various initiations to make the sport festival successful and to warmly receive the rest of Africa, these volunteers took to the streets and surrounding environment on February 25, 2018 with a slogan “It’s my Ethiopia cleaning campaign” in Mekelle city. During the campaign, members of charity organizations, MU management, top officials of the regional administrations, Police commission officers, MU students and other volunteers and local communities all took part in this exercise.

 

The 9th African University Games is scheduled for the 2nd-6th of June 2018.
