SHENYANG – After two days of intense pool competition, the teams entered the semi-finals and finals of the inaugural edition of this continental championship.
Team Event: Exciting Semi-Finals and Finals
In the women’s competition, Tianjin University of Economics and Finance (TUEF) and Beijing Normal University (BNU) both beat their rivals and proceeded to the final with TUEF winning the Chinese derby.
In the men’s competition, the highlight was in the final game between Mongolia’s Altius Institute of Physical Education 1 (MAI) and Northeastern University (NEU), as it is the second time for the two teams to compete on this court with NEU to become the 1st men’s champion of this inaugural Asian University 3×3 Basketball Championship and this in front of its home fans.
Individual Games: a Magnificent Feast for the Eyes
In between the game for 3rd/4th place and the championship game, there was an individual contest, namely a men’s slam dunk and a women’s shoot out contest. All the participants showed their special excellent skills, feasted the audience with the charms of basketball and triggered the excitement inside the court. Finally, it was Ochirkhuu Khuderbat from the Altius Institute of Physical Education 2 (MGL) who became No.1 in the men’s contest. Ms. Liu Yusen from the Tianjin University of Economics and Finance (CHN) scored the highest in the 3-point throw.

Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony was held in the NEU international hotel. The following guests attended the ceremony: Mr. JARGALSAKHAN Dorjsuren, AUSF Assessor; Mr. YOON Wai Sun, Technical Delegate of the 1st Asian University 3X3 Basketball Championship, Mr. HAO Chengjiang, Director of Liaoning Province of Student Sport Development Center; Mr. ZHANG Fengdu, Director of Physics Education Council of Northeastern University; Mr. CHEN Song, Director of Physics Education Department of Northeastern University and Ms. YAN Yuetong, AUSF General Coordinator. The winners of the team games were awarded the medals and received long-lasting applause from all the participants.
Cultural performance at the closing ceremony
On behalf of Northeastern University and the Organizing Committee, Mr. CHEN Song congratulated the winning teams and gave his best regards to all the participants. Then Mr. JARGALSAKHAN Dorjsuren thanked the Organizing Committee for their great job and welcomed all the Asian countries and regions to take part in the 6th Men’s Basketball Championship and the 1st Women’s Basketball Championship, which will be held in Mongolia and Chinese Taipei respectively in the next year.
Next month, the 1st Asian University Chess Championship will be hosted in Beijing, China.
