7th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport – more information

Conference Background

The 7th World Conference will be held from the 17th-20th May 2018 in Gaborone, Botswana. The Conference will be held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).   “Determine The future. Be Part Of The Change”  will be the main theme. The conference will feature 6 plenary sessions and side events that will cover various issues under the following topical sub themes.

TELL THEIR STORY : Leveraging Media to Advocate for Women’s Sport

WELCOME and EMPOWER ALL through SPORT

About IWG : Empowering women – Advancing sportOur story began in 1994 with the first World Conference on Women and Sport in Brighton, UK and the debut of the Brighton Declaration on Women and Sport. Chapter by chapter our story has continued with the help of thousands of dedicated women and men the world over. Our independent coordinating body is currently located in Gaborone, Botswana for the 2014 – 2018 quadrennial term and led by renowned international experts in the field who contribute their unique expertise to achieving the IWG’s mission: Empowering women – Advancing sport. On June 12 – 15, 2014 the 6th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport celebrated the 20 years of sustained advocacy. On September 1, 2014 the IWG returns to Africa, to be hosted by the BOTSWANA NATIONAL SPORTS COMMISSION (BNSC) for the quadrennial term 2014 – 2018.
