EUSA Executive Committee Meeting in Rijeka

RIJEKA – The new Executive Committee of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) met on 3 and 4 June in Rijeka, one of the hosting cities of the European Universities Games 2016. This was the first meeting after their election this April.

EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek started the meeting by congratulating once again the members for their election and thanked Mr Haris Pavletic, EUSA Vice-President and Vice-President of CASF, for hosting the meeting.

Participants were also greeted in the City Hall by the Mayor of the City of Rijeka Mr Vojko Obersnel, expressing his happiness to co-host the 3rd European Universities Games which will be held between 12 and 25 July in Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka.

EUSA members also visited the Rectorate of the University Rijeka, where there were met by the Rector Mr Pero Lucin and the Vice-Rector Mrs Snjezana Prijic Samarzija. They stressed that the Games are important for the University and their students for several reasons, including the new student dormitories and the development of volunteering.

In their two-day meeting, Executive Committee members discussed EUSA sport events, including European Universities Games, European Universities Championships and Patronage events; educational events and projects supported by the European Commission and the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The bidding procedure of the 2019 events was confirmed, as well as new event websites and the EUSA result management system.

The new EUSA Executive Committee also confirmed the structure of EUSA Commissions 2016-2020; announcing the call for nominations. The meeting also included visit to some of the sports and accommodation venues which will be used for the European Universities Games 2016; the event will open on 13 July in Zagreb, Croatia.
