AMSTERDAM –The 8th World Conference on Sport, Culture and Education was organised in Amsterdam, Netherlands, by the International Olympic Committee, in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), from 25 to 27 November 2012.
More than 500 delegates from National Olympic Committees, International Federations, Organising Committees for the Olympic Games, educational and cultural institutions, UN specialised organisations, governmental and non-governmental organisations participated in this Conference.
Under the theme “Olympism Powered by YOUth”, sessions were held and presentations made in plenary and specialised dialogue sessions, such as:

Mobilising youth through sport, culture and education ;

Strengthening education through sport ;

Mobilising families

Education based on values: the importance of the Olympic values and putting them into practice;

Legacy of sport, culture and education;

Models inside and outside sport;
-
Making the link between the past and the present and promoting the potential of sport;

Social mapping for the future of sport, culture and education;
-
Olympism powered by Youth.
At the end of the conference the participants unanimously approved the Declaration of Amsterdam. Download the declaration here.
FISU was represented by Kolë Gjeloshaj, Director of Educational Services. Various people present were also linked to FISU, e.g. Arnaud Richard (FRA), CESU member, Hester De Vries (NUSF Netherlands) and Kelly Blas (NUSF Guam), who was also present at the last FISU Forum.
