GUIMARÃES – Last Friday, January 13th, a meeting was held at the University of Minho’s Sports Services between the 12th World University Chess Championship Organizing Committee, represented by Fernando Parente and Roque Teixeira, and the representative of the Portuguese Chess Federation, Fernando Costa.
This meeting related to specific issues in this World University Championship that will be held in the city of Guimarães, from August 19th to 26th of this year.
The principles of operation within the technical issues, integration of a member of the Portuguese Chess Federation in the Organizing Committee and the training of volunteers for this tournament were some of the topics addressed and widely discussed and agreed upon. This meeting also settled various agreements on Chess exhibitions, since the event will be an integral part of the activities of the city ofGuimarãesas the European Capital of Culture.
Both parties expressed high expectations for the event and were eagerly looking forward to its successful execution.
