FUSC Celebrates International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

HANGZHOU – As the celebration of the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace dated on 6 April, the Southeastern Division of the 18th edition of the China University Basketball Association (CUBA) officially opened in Hangzhou city. 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams from the division will start their basketball journey in the coming week.

The opening ceremony was held in the stadium of Zhejiang University, with the attendance by Mr. Zhang Yanjun, FUSC Vice-President; Mr. Bao Xuejun, Deputy Director-General of Zhejiang Educational Department, and other authorities in local province. The ceremony was followed by the inaugural game between men’s teams from Zhejiang University and Xiamen University, which attracted the attention from more than 5,000 spectators on site and more than 210,000 online audiences simultaneously through LeTV video streaming.

Being the exclusively authorized and most popular event at university level in China, CUBA has been successful since 1996. This year each of the 4 geographic divisions in the country will organize the regional competitions with the participation of 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams respectively, through which the thrilling Final Four is expected to come soon.
