FREDERICTON –The University of Saskatchewan Huskies are the 2016 ArcelorMittal-Dofasco CIS Women’s Basketball Champions. The Huskies take home the gold medal and the Bronze Baby trophy, which is emblematic of national university women’s basketball supremacy. The Huskies defeated the Ryerson University Rams 85-71, before a national television audience and more than 1000 fans, at the University of New Brunswick’s Richard J. Currie Center, in Fredericton. Carleton Ravens win Gold
Les Ravens gagnent l’or masculin
VANCOUVER – The Men’s Basketball Final was played in Vancouver. On Saturday night, in front of a crowd of 4,415 at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, the Carleton Ravens earned their sixth straight national title by beating the Calgary Dinos 101-79 in the championship final. Carleton takes sixth straight CIS title with 101-79 win. The run of six consecutive CIS titles trails only the record set by Victoria Vikes, who took home seven banners from 1980 to 1986. In addition, with the result, the Ravens also extended their lead as the winningest men’s basketball team in CIS history, with 12 titles to their credit.
