13th WUC Badminton – Day 3 of Competitions

Medal Podium Team Event

 

CORDOBA – China won the gold medal in the team event at the 13th World University Badminton Championship after beating Malaysia 3-0, winning all matches played in the tournament. The Chinese team ratifies the medal obtained in the 2012 edition. Completing the podium for bronze are Chinese Taipei and Korea after having been defeated by China and Malaysia respectively.

After the final match between China and Malaysia the Medal Awarding Ceremony was celebrated, during which medals were awarded by Mrs Alison Odell, FISU First Assessor; Lawrence Chew BWF representative and David Cabello, FISU Executive Committee member and Spanish Badminton Federation President. Trophies to the teams were presented by Mrs. Rosario Mérida, Vice-Rector of University Life and Social Responsibility, and Mr. Miguel Reina, Sports Councillor.

From today, Sunday 27 July, the event will continue with the individual competition in five disciplines, Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
