Russian Mixed Team won Bronze Medal in Archery

GWANGJU – Archery is a very popular sport in Russia. There are 42 regions that are dedicated to this sport, and that can be demonstrated with the great representation of the country. Inna Stepanova (25) and Galsan Bazarzhapov (20), both students of the Moscow State Academy of Physical Education, represent the Russian Federation in this Summer Universiade and got the bronze medal for their country.

The couple participated in the Mixed Recurve Team Category against Japan, which was eliminated with a 1-5 set point in the Gwangju International Archery Center. Although the game was also accompanied with some rain, the venue was very crowded with spectators on both sides who supported and encouraged their teams. "For me this victory means a lot. I'm pretty happy with the results. After Korea I am going to Moscow and I will continue my preparation every day like I always do. Now what follows is the World Championship which will be held in Denmark. These competitions in Gwangju also have helped me to train," commented Galsan who started training archery about seven years ago.

"I am very happy to bring this medal to my country. The stay in Gwangju has been very good and most likely in July this year I am going to be competing as a team with Galsan one more time in Denmark," Inna pointed out.

"We are very happy that we won the third place against Japan. This is a hardworking team and this medal means a lot to us and our country," expressed Galina Shradrina, team’s coach.
