Bogdan Radosavljevic (N°15) in action
GWANGJU – Bogdan Radosavljevic’s career as a basketball player picked up speed when he transferred from Bayern Munich Basketball to the Walter Tigers Tübingen in August 2013. “I wanted to get more playing time”, says the 21-year-old German centre. In Tübingen Radosavljevic was given the chance to prove himself – and he played well. His performances impressed German A2 national coach Henrik Rödl who nominated the Serbia-born giant for the team and a week ago also for the 2015 Summer Universiade. “Going to Tübingen helped me to take the next step. I didn’t want to sit on the bench the whole time. I think I took a big step forward, so it was the right choice to go there. Tübingen is a great city”, explains Radosavljevic, who studies at the FernUniversität Hagen.
To top it all off, only few hours later the 2,19 meters tall athlete was invited to take part in the first EuroBasket 2015 training sessions of the A1 national team coached by Chris Fleming. And as a successful player he also raised the interest of bigger teams during the past seasons with Tübingen.
“All these things are great news for me. First to be here at the Universiade and then to participate in the A1 training sessions. We will see how it all goes. I’m focusing on the tournament. I’m just doing everything step by step”, says the German. “The quarterfinals were mentioned as our goal, but I think we can really do better if we manage to play our best game. If that’s the case, we can reach for a medal”, concluded Radosavljevic.
He is a fan of the Universiade: “It’s great when so many athletes live together in one big village. The opening ceremony was unbelievable, I’ve never before taken that many pictures.” These pictures are a great memory once the games are over. It might be the first and at the same time last Universiade for Radosavljevic. In Germany traditionally the A2 national team participates in the Universiade. If he continues to get better and one day plays for the A1 team, pictures might be the only thing that give him a feeling of the Universiade. So it’s good he took many of them.
