Valentina Golenkova mentioned that it was the second Russian Cup stages win of her team: “The race was amazing, very intriguing,” she said. “This is for the first time in Russia, because the slope is rather difficult, with two jumps - it’s never happened before at the Russian Cup. That is absolutely awesome! Our team won the second stage of the race, but all the teams were strong, the contest was serious, you can never guess who will be the winner.”

Having volunteers and event staff who intimately understand the sport has a direct effect on the conditions of the competition, and thus, on the athlete experience

The second and third podium sports were taken by teams from Moscow. Polina Melnikova and Alexandra Karachun, two of the quartet that won silver, were satisfied with their races: “We lost the final, but we are happy to get silver, after all. We are the Moscow second team today, but we broke through and struggled. For us the second prize is a success, but there’s been also a chance to win. The level of the track here is much higher than the level we usually have, so it was more difficult for us. The track is excellent; this is exactly what the athletes need.”
