Oslo in Motion

About the ‘City in Motion’ initiative

Following the success of the ‘2014 Lausanne in Motion’, the inaugural International University Sport Festival, FISU launched the opportunity for the rest of the world university sporting communities to consider their involvement in the International University Sport festival celebrating the International Day of University Sport (20th September annually).

Oslo in Motion : Program


Oslo in Motion


On the 23 September The International University Sports festival “Oslo in Motion” will take place at The University of Oslo. The event includes a full sports program, where students can try the sports, an opening ceremony with several guests, lectures as part of a huge educational program, an exhibition to celebrate University Sports in Norway, concerts and cultural performances, a debate about University sports, health and friendship and other guests invited specially to promote the values of University sport during the festival.


Oslo in Motion program:

 Friday 23 September:


Opening Ceremony


The Mayor of Oslo, Marianne Borgen, will do the official opening of Oslo in Motion. Representatives from the following institutions will make speeches: The Norwegian Commission for UNESCO, The University of Oslo and The Norwegian Association of University Sports. The Opening ceremony also includes cultural performances.


Sport program

All students invites to try all kinds the sports. Over 30 sport activities will be free and open for everyone to try.

The exhibition #studentidrett will showcase the DNA of Norwegian University Sport. With pictures, texts and videos the soul of University Sport will be at display.


Educational program and debate

The educational program takes place at campus and will consist of a series of lectures including five time Paralympian Bjørnar Erikstad, Morten Heierdal, from Anti-doping Norway and Anders Meland, coach for fighter pilots and Norwegian top athletes among many others. The program concludes with a debate about university sports, health and friendship.




The festival concludes with concerts performed by Kristina Kamakas and Ola Hilmen.


Saturday 24 September:


University Sports tournament

University sport tournament in football, volleyball, handball and floorball.


Seminar for coaches

A seminar dedicated for university sports coaches, invited from all over Norway.
