Chinese Taipei will host the 2008 World University Archery Championship from July 7th to 10th. It's the second time that CTUSF, the local FISU Member Association, stages this WUC, as it organised the 2nd edition ten years ago, in 1998 in Taoyuan. This year's event will take place in Tainan. The Chinese Taipei Archery Delegation composed of four CT Olympic archers - Cheng-wei KUO, Cheng-ban WANG, Shu-chi Yuan and Hui-ju WU - will participate in the 7th World University Archery Championship to meet with archers from 26 countries. The TPE archers did an excellent job in previous Championships. In the 5th World University Archery Championship in 2004, Chinese Taipei won a gold medal in men recurve bow of the team event, Kuo won a gold medal in the archery competition of the 2005 Izmir Universiade while a gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals were won in the 6th World University Archery Championship in 2006. As reported by the Organizing Committee, 27 countries have completed entry procedures so far with more than 200 archers and officials, the highest numbers ever recorded in a WUC Archery. As viewed from the increasing number of championships, archery sports has enjoyed importance from sport authorities. With a view to keeping the general public posted of the progress of the Championship, the Organizing Committee has established a website (2008 wuac.ctusf.org.tw ) where all information about the Championship is provided.
