WUC Cycling 2008 Officialy Opened!

Last evening the 2008 World University Cycling Championship was officially opened at the opening ceremony in 'Valkhofpark', in the city-centre of Nijmegen. All athletes and delegates were warmly welcomed by the words of Pieter Tilstra (FISU Honorary Member), Erica Terpstra (President of the Dutch Olympic Committee NOC*NSF), Rob Vaessen (President World University Championship Cycling 2008) and Kemal Tamer (Assessor FISU). Bas Kortmann (Rector Magnificus Radboud University) declared the championship opened. Michel Römen a trial biker gave a crowd-pleasing showcase and with the loud applause of all persons present the ceremony ended. Prior to this splendid ceremony, Prof Kemal Tamer, CISCA President gave some very positive comments about the organisation. Indeed Mr Kemal Tamer underlined the excellent quality of the lodging and the enthusiasm of the volunteers which are all students. Our new FISU CT Chair for Cycling, Mr. KRAMER Gudo took also the floor to thank the organisers for their excellent preparation work on the technical point of view.
