FISU in Mourning for University Bridge Promoter

FISU Headquarters has been informed that University Bridge promoter Paul Magerman passed away on September 26th, 2007. Mr. Magerman was the father of current FISU Technical Chairman for Bridge Geert Magerman. Born on September 18, 1929, in Sint-Gillis-Waas, Belgium, Mr. Magerman graduated as a civil engineer and became Director of Electrabel. Mr. Magerman was very much involved in national and international bridge: Founder and Honorary-President of the Flemish Bridge League, Former President of the Belgian Bridge Federation, Former President of the European Union Bridge League, Honorary Member European Bridge League and Chairman of the University Bridge Committee of the World Bridge Federation. In this function he was the liaison between FISU and the WBF and was very committed to the development of bridge as a university sport. He was the President of the Organising Committee of the 1st World University Bridge Championship in Bruges in 2002. We express our condolences to the Magerman Family.
