2008 WUC Beach Volleyball: Update

The OC of the 4th World University Beach Volleyball Championship (WUBC) registered a record application so far: 118 participants from 26 nations will compete for the world championship title from July 1st to 6th, 2008 on the former England ferry dock in Hamburg. The leading beach volleyball nations - Germany, USA, Brazil, France, China and Switzerland - will attend with two men and women teams each. In addition to the top teams, high ranking guests have announced their presence as well. During the tournament numerous decision makers of the umbrella association of the University Sports FISU, the European University Sports Association EUSA and the German sport federations will come to Hamburg. The University Sports Hamburg and the German University Sports Federation ADH spare no efforts in order to offer a top class event to the national and international guests. Therefore the preparations in Hamburg are in full swing. From June 23rd on trucks have been transporting altogether 3.100 tonnes of sand to the dock in order to construct an imposing beachvolleyball venue with three training courts, seven competition courts and a centre court with 1,500 seats. In Addition there will be a media and VIP area right next to the beach clubs Lago Bay and Del mar.
