2008 WUC Karate: Update

The Organizing Committee of the 6th World University Championship propose the dates July 3rd to 6th, 2008, where the 3rd of July will be a day for the Opening Ceremony and on July 6th the Closing Ceremony will take place. The arrivals are planned between June 30th and July 2nd and the departures on July 7th.
Accreditation Centre & Championship’s Office
The accreditation office will be located in the main accommodation venue. The main championship’s office will also be situated in the venue and will be open from the morning until the late evening hours.
Accommodation
All the delegations will be accommodated in a student dormitory. One of the dormitories belonging to the University of Agriculture (Chelmonski street) or to the University of Economics (Komandorska street) will be chosen. They are situated about 20 minutes from the city centre. The delegations will have at their disposal double and triple rooms (one unit is composed of 2 double rooms and 2 triple rooms) with 2 showers and a toilet per unit (4 rooms: 8-10 people). Access to the accommodation centre will only be possible with an accreditation card (the entrance will be under the supervision of the building security). The canteen will be situated in the accommodation venue (entrance to the canteen will only with the accreditation card). Different type of meals will be served including vegetarian dishes. Members of the FISU Family will be accommodated in the “GEM” Hotel (*** hotel). Meals will be served in the hotel restaurant. They can also enter and use the championship's canteen located in the main accommodation venue if desired.
Transportation
During the competition shuttle buses between the accommodation venue and the sport venue will be organized. A schedule will be published. Members of the FISU Family will have at their disposal cars and drivers. During the delegation arrivals transportation from Wroclaw airport and from the main railway and bus station of the city to the main accommodation venue will be organized according to the received travel schedules. Transportation during departures days will also be organized (from the main accommodation venue at the airport of Wroclaw and the railway and bus station). Arriving teams will be accompanied by their volunteers. Furthermore, at the railway station, bus station (if needed) and at the airport special stands (with the name of the Championship and useful symbols) will be prepared and volunteers will be waiting for teams.
Venues
“Orbita” Hall (Wejherowska street 2, Wroclaw) – one of the most modern sport venues in Europe - has been chosen for the competition. It consists of two halls; the bigger one has a 3,000 seating capacity and a 18,000 square meter surface. The OC will provide the equipment (tatami etc.) according to the international standards. Entrance to the sport area, locker rooms and other areas as press office, staff offices etc. will be possible only with the appropriate accreditation cards. Practice sessions will be organized in halls near the competition venue. The practice schedule will be published. The OC plans free entrance for the fans to watch the WUC.

Medical Service & Anti-Doping Control
During competition days an ambulance and an appropriate number of medical staff will be present in the sport venue. In the sports venue a doctor will be on call. However, all the participants should have an appropriate insurance to make an eventually service in a hospital easier. The anti-doping control will be according to FISU regulations. Samples will be delivered to the nearest laboratories with WADA accreditation (in Warsaw or in Prague).
Media
A Press office will be organized in the sport venue. Access to the press room will be possible only with a valid accreditation card. A daily bulletin with news and the previous day results will be published.
