FISU Development Forum in Samoa

In Apia, Samoa, before the start of the official meeting with the representatives of the NUSF of Oceania, Mr. Stefan Bergh, FISU Vice-President and Kolë Gjeloshaj Director Educational Services and Chief of Staff to the president, met with the local authorities. The first meeting was with the Mr. Magele Tafafunai Magele, Vice-Chancellor of the National University hosting the meeting then a cultural evening was organised where Mr. To’omata Alapati Poese To’omata, Minister of Education, Sports and Culture welcomed all delegates. We have to note that the vice-chancellor was attending the World University President Summit and FISU Rectors Forum that was held in July 2006 in Bangkok. On the morning of the 24th, the meeting started with the presentation of the National University Sport Federation by each of the 11 delegates. The second part of the day, was dedicated on the presentation of the FISU structure and activities and how FISU may better co-operate with the countries of Oceania. This is the first time that FISU is meeting with all countries of the Continent. Increasing the membership and participation to FISU activities were the main goals of this meeting.
