WUC 2010: First World University Savate Championship in Nantes?

José Savoye, the FFSU (French University Sport Federation) President came today at the FISU Headquarter to discuss the Candidature dossier of the City of Nantes. Indeed, Nantes would like to organise the First World University Savate Championship in 2010. Gilles le Duigou, President of the International Savate Federation (FIS) was also present at this meeting. After a brief presentation of his federation, he underlined some important points about his sport. Indeed participation will be guaranteed for both men and women categories. A lot of countries have shown great interest to such an event. And some other cities are already candidates for futures WUC. Finally, a delegation will present this project at the next FISU Executive Committee Meeting in Harbin, China, next month.

José Savoye, together with Vincent Rognon, FFSU National Vice-director and Alexandre Walnier, Secretary General of the FIS University Committee insisted on the benefit of this new discipline in the frame of developing the university sport programme: "Savate is really a university sport with a good spirit dimension", they said. José Savoye underlined also the dynamism of Nantes which together with the FFSU will guarantee the success of this first edition.
