Member Association News: NZL Meet with FISU Assessor

Senior officials from University Sport New Zealand met on Thursday 20 December in Wellington with FISU Executive Committee member Leonz Eder (SUI). This was the first ever meeting with a senior FISU official in New Zealand and USNZ were able to discuss the structure and growing importance of University Sport within New Zealand’s sporting environment. There was also discussion on New Zealand’s increasing participation in FISU competitions as well as developments in the formation of an Oceania continental federation. Eder, who is holidaying in New Zealand with his wife Brigitte, met with USNZ President Hamish Hopkinson, Executive Director David Pearce, 2009 Winter Universiade head of delegation Michael Forrestal and new FISU CIC member Jim Ellis.
