Two Former Universiade Hosts Shortlisted for 2010 YOG

Bangkok (THA), host of the 2007 Summer Universiade and Torino (ITA), host of the 2007 Winter Universiade, are among the shortlisted cities bidding to host the 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2010. Especially Bangkok relied on its Universiade venue legacy to bid for the YOG, Torino, already being an Olympic city prior to the Winter Universiade. Other cities selected by the International Olympic Committee as candidates were Athens (GRE), Moscow (RUS) and Singapore (SIN). The cities were selected unanimously from a total of nine, which also included Debrecen (HUN), Guatemala City (GUA), Kuala Lumpur (MAS) and Poznan (POL), the latter a Summer Universiade bidding city (2007, 2009 and 2011).
