July 20th, 2008

In-Ho Lee (KOR), gold medallist -84kg

Excellent fights with attractive taekwondo marked the third day of competition at the 10th World University Taekwondo Championships, yesterday July 19th. Korean In-Ho Lea won the gold medal in the weight class up to 84 kg. He beat Russian Ivan Nikitin in the final match. “I expected to win, of course. I have prepared myself so long for this competition. The feeling is wonderful, can’t be described with words. I am so happy that my teammates supported me throughout this day. For In-Ho Lea, Belgrade will remain a nice memory. I have won many medals so far, but only in Korea. In Serbia I won my first medal at an international competition, and it is gold. This is why this medal is so special to me. I like the city, people here are very kind, and everything is organized well”, concluded In-Ho Lea.

Mohammad Bagheri Motamed (IRI), gold medallist -67kg

Iranian Mohammad Bagheri Motamed was victorious in the weight class up to 67 kg. He defeated Korean Soon Kill Lee in the final match. “I am very happy; it was difficult to win the medal. Soon Kill Lee and the other opponents are excellent fighters. This gold medal is a great success.” Mohammad Bagheri Motamed is not in Belgrade for the first time. I am glad to be in your wonderful city again. Each year we come to a competition held exactly here in this hall. I met again some dear friends and won the gold medal.”
