Spectacular, illusion, wonder. These are the ingredients of the world’s best quick-change artist shows: Arturo Brachetti will be one of the great stars of the Opening Ceremony of the 2007 Winter Universiade, next 17th January at the Turin PalaOlimpico. The extraordinary illusionist returns to his hometown, right on the occasion - almost a way to confirm the tradition that wants Turin to be a renowned magic town - to perform a transformation created ad hoc for this event, which will make his appearance literally unique. An omissible chance to admire the Artist after a long absence from the Italian stages, an exclusive preview of the upcoming Italian tour of his One Man Show “The Man with a Thousand Faces”, is opening in Milan on the 23rd of January, to reach then Rome, Turin and Naples. The previous version of this show won the prestigious Molière Award in Paris and the Olivier Award as the Best Show of the Year in Canada.

Beloved in Japan as well as in the New Continent, Arturo performs in several languages and in hundreds of theatres all over the world; among his audience the British Royal Family and Jacques Chirac. Brachetti’s worldwide fame, achieved thanks to his extraordinary and peculiar ability to play up to 80 different characters in one single show, using more than 350 wonderful costumes that turn him into Salome, King Kong, Frankenstein, Angel, Mephisto, or into anyone he likes to be. Brachetti rediscovered the art of quick-change, forgotten since Leopoldo Fregoli’s death in 1936. He re-invented the art and the 2006 Guinness Book of Records describes him as the fastest quick-change artist in the world. Multimedia extravaganza, an aesthetic marvel never seen before, that matches together humour, music, magic and video in a unique collage where surreal becomes real. Brachetti’s performance inserts coherently within the XXIII Winter Universiade Turin Opening Ceremony, a show with acrobats, dancers, musicians, flying men and, by surprise, several testimonials from the world of sports and showbiz. All together they will create a whirling dance, a revel involving the athletes and the audience -there and at home- transforming the whole place in a colourful explosion of emotions. http://www.brachetti.com
