2008 WUC Badminton: Update

Inspection Visit Technical Chair
FISU Badminton Technical Delegate, Mr. Roger Johansson travelled to Braga, Portugal for a pre-event Inspection visit of the Championship venue and accommodation. Mr. Johansson was received by the 2008 WUC Badminton President Roque Teixeira, LOC Secretary-General (CIC member) Fernando Parente, University of Minho Administrator Carlos Silva, FISU EC member Pedro Dias and Portuguese Badminton Federation President João Matos, having the opportunity to cover various specific event issues and on site visits to the University canteen, the University Sports Complex, the event warming-up and training hall and the new Sports Complex unit still under construction. The last of this two-day visit comprised of appointments on the athletes, officials and referees accommodation facilities. A meeting with the Local Organizing Committee, Portuguese University Sports Federation (FADU) and the Portuguese Badminton Federation concerning technical competition matters was also held. A short visit to the historical centre of Braga was also possible showing Mr. Johansson the very unique heritage of the host city. The LOC looks forward to rising to the challenges put forth and will certainly set up another very interesting event.
