Remember ... Beijing 2001

July 18th, 2008

The XXIX. Olympic Games begin on August 8th, 2008 in Beijing – a good reason to catch up on China, its people, their way of life and Chinese sport. The Institute for Sport Science of the University of Tuebingen/Germany, where Dr. Verena Burk, Assessor of FISU Executive Committee, is teaching, displays an informative and diverting exhibition on the topic “Sport in China”. This exposition has been arranged in cooperation with a local banking institution and takes place from July 15th until August 8th. Some of the exhibition’s topics are the development and the organization of the Chinese high-performance sport and mass sport, the bidding for and preparation of the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing, the relation between economy and sport, as well as mass media and sport in China and many more. One part of the exposition is dedicated to the 2001 Summer Universiade in Beijing. The exhibits for this purpose were disposed by the FISU archive in Brussels.
