Member Association News: ADH Delegates Visit FISU HQ

Today, March 18th, 3 delegates from the German FISU Member Association Allgemeiner Deutscher Hochschulsportverband (ADH) visited the FISU Headquarters in Brussels. Mr. Nico Sperle, ADH President, Mr. Olaf Tabor, ADH Secretary-General, and Mr. Roland Joachim, ADH Treasurer, met with FISU Secretary-General Eric Saintrond and FISU Staff members to obtain information regarding the hosting of a Universiade, as ADH is preparing a bid for the 2015 Summer Universiade, officially announcing Hamburg as applicant city. The future candidature of Hamburg and Germany has to be seen as part of a general plan to bring major sporting events to Germany for the period 2009-2018. In 2009 Berlin will host the IAAF World Championship and in 2011 the FIFA Women’s World Cup will be played throughout Germany. Furthermore, former Universiade host Duisburg is bidding for the 2013 World Games (after hosting this event successfully in 2005), Munich is bidding to host the 2018 Winter Olympics and, last but not least, Hamburg for the 2015 Summer Universiade…
