Continental Association News: EUSA EC Meeting in Istanbul

The newly elected EUSA Executive Committee met on its first meeting which took place in Istanbul (TUR) from March 13th to 16th, 2008. The members of the EC and guests were welcomed by Mr. Kemal Tamer, the President of the Turkish University Sports Federation and Mr. Togay Bayatlý, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Turkey. The EUSA President Alberto Gualtieri thanked the hosts on behalf of the EC for the superb organisation of the meeting. Present at the meeting were also Mr. Boris Sekulic, the Secretary-General of the Universities Sports Federation of Montenegro and Mr. Gavrilko Valentine, the Secretary-General of the Students Sport Union of Ukraine; the two invited NUSA representatives. Before the meeting, Mr. Alberto Gualtieri the EUSA President and Mr. Valeriy Sorokin, the Director-General of the Joint Stock Company Svyazinvestneftekhim signed the Sponsorship contract of the EUSA activities for the next two year period. The EUSA Executive Committee among other approved the EUC Regulations, the EUC Technical Regulations and the Entry Procedure for 2008 and attributed the organisation of the 2009 EUC Bridge to the Croatian University Sports Federation. The event will take place in Opatija from October 4th to 10th, 2009. The EC also decided to organise the Convention for the 2009 EUC Organisers in Ljubljana (SLO) from November 7th to 9th, 2008. The EC established the EUSA Medical Commission, the Rules and Regulation Commission and the Marketing Commission. 4 new members of the EUSA Student Commission were nominated. The EC decided to co-finance the participation on the EUSA events and the office activities for the developing NUSA. The EC also proposed to the General Assembly to accept Georgia in the EUSA Membership. The next EUSA EC meeting will take place in London (GBR) from June 5th to 8th, 2008.
