2008 WUC Rugby 7: Update
July 16th, 2008

Briefing of the WUC volunteers
With the 2008 World University Rugby 7 Championship coming up, the campus of the University of Córdoba is buzzing with action as the teams are already on the spot getting used to the heath and practicing on the fields.
Canadian Head Coach Suzanne Chaulk
For the Canadian Women’s Team a big challenge lie ahead seeking an unprecedented third straight FISU world 7s women's rugby title. Canada, seeded No. 1 of eight teams, won both the inaugural 2004 tournament (Beijing) and earned a second straight win in 2006 (Rome) for the only international championship and lone repeat international championship in the history of Canadian rugby. The entire 2008 Canadian team, average age 20, will be making their FISU 7s playing debut. "It's a different kettle of fish, a different set of pressures this year," said Head coach Suzanne Chaulk, who has coached each Canadian FISU championship women's 7s team. "This is a new team with no superstars." Chaulk, who founded the UOttawa women's rugby program in 1991, is assisted at the FISU world women's 7s championship by University of Alberta rugby coach Matt Parrish.
