2011 Summer Universiade: Update

It was the first time that FISU Executive Members were present in Shenzhen after the attribution of the 2011 Summer Universiade to the southern Chinese city. On July 15th, the official inauguration of the Executive board offices of the Organising Committee took place. FISU President George E. Killian together with nine other members of the Executive Committee (C-L Gallien, 1st Vice-President; X. Zhang and H. Chikh, Vice-Presidents; R. Campana, Secretary-General, T-C Chen, K. Ulp, S. Jasnic, D. Bayasgalan and S. Douvis, Assessors) and many other members of the FISU Family including Mr. A Gualtieri, President of the European University Sports Association, were welcomed by Mr. Li Hongzhong, Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal CPC Committee and Mr. Xu Zongheng, Mayor of Shenzhen, for this special event. During the visit, the members of the FISU Family had the opportunity to have a look at the first selection of 11 logos selected by the organisers to symbolise their event. Then Mr. G.E. Killian and Mr. R. Campana participated in a Press Conference.

At the end of the day, all the authorities were gathered for the presentation of the official web site of the 26th Summer Universiade at www.sz2011.org. Four years ahead of time the organisers of the 26th Universiade are definitely showing their high motivation in their preparation of FISU’s main event.
