Continental Association News: 2008 EUSA Convention

The 2008 EUSA Convention was organised from November 7th to 9th, 2008 in the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The aim of the convention was to give information and support to the organisers of the European Universities Championships in 2009. The representatives from the Organising Committees of the 2009 European Universities Championships and the newly appointed EUSA Technical Delegates were welcomed by Mr. Alberto Gualtieri, the EUSA President, prof. dr. Andreja Kocijanèiè, Rector of the University of Ljubljana and prof. dr. Otmar Kugovnik, President of the Slovenian University Sports Association. During the Convention the representatives of EUSA, Mr. Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary-General and Mr. Adam Roczek, Sports Manager, gave a general briefing on the terms and conditions as well as on examples for best practice of organisation of the European Universities Championships. Dr. Kati Korjus, the EUSA Medical Commission Member presented the Medical Terms, while Ms. Iris Olberding, the Chair of the EUSA Student Commission presented the Student Volunteer Program. In the afternoon, a short presentation of each event was made, while later on the Technical Delegates met with the representatives of the Organising Committees of their respective sport in order to check all details of the organisation. 45 representatives from the 2009 EUC Organising Committees and EUSA Technical Delegates participated in the Convention.
