2008 WUC Karate: Day 3
July 14th, 2008
The last day of the 6th World University Karate Championship in Wroclaw, Poland was very exiting. Three finals were at the programme. Kumite Women’s and Men’s team competitions and the Kata Women’s team competition. If the French competitors of the Kumite Women’s Team won quite logically and rapidly against there Turkish opponents, the Turkish Kumite Men’s Team won against Japan in a very tense match. The two first fights were ties, the third one won by Turkey and the fourth one by Japan. Therefore we had to wait for the last fight to see Turkey winning. In the last competition of this Championship the host country was meeting the ex-Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. It was the last chance for Poland to win a gold medal but unfortunately one of the competitors got injured and couldn’t finish the demonstration. The day finished with the ceremony of the passing of the FISU flag to the next organiser Montenegro. Indeed, Podgorica will welcome the 7th World University Championship in 2010.
