Korea is bidding for the 2010 WUC Equestrian

Today, our World University Championship Department had the pleasure to welcome another Korean delegation in our FISU HQ. Indeed the Korean University Sports Board and the Korean Equestrian Federation would like to organize the World University Equestrian Championship in 2010, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Korean Racing Association, the Korea Sports Council, the Korean Equestrian Federation, the Ministry of Planning and Budget, the Mainland Horse Breeders association, the Horse Industry Development Committee and the Kyeongbuk National University. A delegation composed of Mr Il-Hong KIM, Secretary General of the Asian Equestrian Federation and President of the Korean Student Equestrian Federation, Mr ChangSoo Kim, Ambassador, Advisor for International Relations, Province of Gyenongsangbuk-do, Mr Joo-Seok Shim, Assistant Manager, department of Tourism, Industry Promotion, Mr Chul-Soon Kim, DVM Livestock Sanitary Centre of Gyenongsangbuk-do came to meet with Mr Laurent Briel WUC Director and Nicole Mangelschots, WUC Assistant. The wish of this bidding committee is to win this challenge, having a new governor of the province really interested in developing sports for youth in Korea. Regarding sports facilities, they are now building a special project for the horse industry developments. The bidding committee received the guarantee that KBS will make life broadcasting of the event. This event will be financed by the Province and the bidding committee is ready to welcome about 35 teams to participate, enabling thus for participants from all Asia to attend. The final decision about the attribution will be taken during the next Executive Committee meeting in Harbin, China, at the end of this month.
