Maribor Official Bidding Candidate to Host 2013 WU

SUSA, the Slovenian University Sports Association officially announced that the University City of Maribor is a bidding candidate for the organisation of the XXVI. Winter Universiade 2013. SUSA gained the highest support possible from all the relevant partners: - Parliament of the Republic of Slovenia; - Government of the Republic of Slovenia; - President of the Republic of Slovenia; - City Council of the University City of Maribor; - Olympic Committee of Slovenia – Union of Sport Federations; - University of Maribor and all the other Slovenian Universities; - Slovenian Student Union. So far, Maribor is the first candidate to host the 2013 Winter Universiade. The city of Almaty, Kazakhstan also showed an interest, but so far no official confirmation has been received by the FISU HQ.
