Work Meeting in Sweden

Mr. Stefan Bergh, FISU Vice-President and Mr. Kolë Gjeloshaj, Director for Educational services and Chief of Staff to the President, met for a working session to discuss the meeting that will take place on February 24th and 25th in Apia, Samoa, with the National University Sports Federations of the Oceania Continent. As the meeting was held in the office of the National University Sports Federation located in Uppsala, Sweden, it was the occasion for Mr. Bergh to present the staff led by Ulf Ohrman, the Secretary-General. Mr. Ohrman and his colleagues took the opportunity to present how the Federation was operating and with what strategy. This Federation was created in 1913 and its members are the sports clubs run by students. Actually, 70 clubs are composing the membership of the Federation, and these clubs involve no less than 79,000 students. The philosophy and aims of the Federation focus on: gender equity, democracy, sport for all and community. The activities are concentrated on: sport for all, fitness activities, competitive sports at all levels and low cost activities. The main event is called “Studentiade” which gathers five national championships in one weekend and 1,000 participants from all over the country.
