Continental Association News: ODUPA Sponsored Seminar in Chili

On November 26th and 27th, FENAUDE, the National University Sports Federation of Chili organised the 1st seminar of ‘Physical Activity and Sport in the Chilean Universities’ at the University of Santiago de Chile. The event was hosted with the support of ODUPA, the Continental Member Association of FISU representing the countries of the American continent. 82 professors and coaches of 25 universities participated in this academic event debating and analyzing several themes and documents regarding the management and responsibility in competitive and leisure sport and the university as the promoter of a healthy lifestyle.
The seminar was an excellent platform for reflexion and new proposals which can strengthen the development of university sports and give answers to the new scenarios which come to surface. Next step will be the organisation of an international seminar bringing together all specialists in physical education on the Pan-American continent which will be staged in 2009 at the CENI congress centre at the University of Santiago de Chile. Themes of this seminar will be: ‘Sport and Physical Activity at University’; ‘Extra Curricular Mass Sport, Recreational and Physical Activities’; ‘The University as a Promoter of Healthy and Quality of Life’.
